yo yo ma

Ah, Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor! Yo Yo Ma did not disappoint–he has a certain way of engaging with the orchestra that livens up the already impressive event. I love to watch all the bows move together through the melody. It amazes me how finite instruments can create such a wide range of sounds. How anyone composes one organized and unified piece for 80+ people, all playing different parts in different measures is beyond me! In fact, it quite reminds me of the church.

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

1 Corinthians 12:12, 27
