At the end of every year Wycliffe Global Alliance releases updated statistics about global access to Scripture and the remaining need. This year they reported that there are roughly 209 million people speaking 1,967 languages that do not have a single verse of Scripture in their language. This seems a daunting task, but there is much encouragement in these statistics. In 2012 there were over 2,000 translation projects in progress around the world. That means there are more Bible translation programs in progress today than there are remaining projects to be started! More people have access to God’s Word than ever before! Through the work of the church, the need is dwindling! Let’s keep up the good work.
